About the Author

Peter J. Russell received his B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Sussex, U.K., in 1968 and his Ph.D. in Genetics from Cornell University in 1972. He then joined the Biology faculty of Reed College in 1972 where he is currently Professor of Biology. Russell teaches an upper-division genetics and molecular biology lecture/laboratory course, the genetics section of the introductory biology course, an advanced seminar course in molecular virology, and advises senior thesis research students. He is also the author of a number of successful biology and genetics textbooks, including iGenetics: A Molecular Approach.

 

He is currently studying the molecular genetics of gene expression of a plant pathogenic RNA virus, using the budding yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, as the model host. The research goals are to define the genes of the host that encode products required for the expression of a specific gene involved in aphid transmission of the virus. His earlier research involved studies of ribosome biosynthesis and the organization of and regulation of the number of ribosomal RNA genes in Neurospora.

Greta book that really explains the ins and outs of what to know when it comes to research. Found a typo in chapter 2 when it addresses Type 1 and 2 errors, but I googled the correct information and got confirmation with my professor.

Use this for learning about Research for class.

I really like the product. I have been using the product for one month. I feel it has really improved my workout. Worth it.

We use this book in our Evidence-based practice class. Easy version for learning basic concepts of research. But as this is the first version, it contains many errors and typos. Sometime we even found the whole sentences or paragraphs are reduplicated in another section. This book needs to be refined before publish.

It was the logical and smart bridge between science and religion that I had been searching for.The fourth section of the book is the most important Jesus book since the Bible. It recounts the magnificent life and teachings of Jesus. Before I read The Urantia Book, I loved the story of Jesus in the New Testament, but always felt disappointed that it only covered a few years of his life. Being born to a Christian mother, raised by a non-conformist Jewish father, and having spent two years in a Catholic monastery, my smorgasbord of religious education had taught me to question everything. How did the idea that he was the only son of God relate to Moses, Buddha and other prophets? This reality has shaped every single day of my life since that time.When I first heard people discussing The Urantia Book, they said it was a revelation, written not by human beings, but by angels. I thought was just the goofiest thing I’d ever heard. I ended up reading it in spite of its purported origins. After I read it, it became less relevant to me who had written it or how it was written because it was so powerful. I’d wanted bold; I found bold. I’d wanted spiritual adventure and I was on the ride of my life. I’d wanted truth and the book was loaded with it. Since that time, I have looked into it deeply and I cannot find any author associated with the book. But it doesn’t matter to me because I love what it says and I’m a much better person because of its teachings. I’ve learned not to pick fights with the books I read—I’m appreciative and I grow from them.

The story of Adam & Eve was incredible. I cried like a baby over their love. I highly recommend reading this book while following with the audible. Makes it much easier to understand.

What the Urantia Book has taught me is that God is real. Jesus (aka Michael of Nebadon) is real. Angels are real. The war in heaven was real. Adam and Eve were real.
