most inspiring

It's a wild and fantastical story that's amazingly true. If I didn't know it was a true story, I wouldn't believe it. It's a good book for younger kids, but as an avid reader of young-adult novels, I found it a bit dry. I would have loved to read a bit more in-depth book about this woman's life in hiding!

Quick read. I bought this book because I also read the book of her husbands life during the Holocaust. It was a very informing and interesting book.

An excellent account of the life of this amazing survivor of the holocaust. Twice I have attended symposia at which the author was a guest-speaker, and she appears as genuine and real in this autobiography as she is in person."Destined to Live," even though its subject matter is extremely serious, is an easy-read for young, as well as older, adults. Highly recommended for use in the classroom, as well as on your own! What an honor and a priviledge to learn history as told to us first-hand!

Through close readings of Beckett s pentalogy, the author shows how these novels, written between 1935 and 1950, strikingly anticipate many of the defining themes and ideas of Barthes, Foucault, and Derrida from madness and the cogito to the death of the author and the end of the book, from diffZrance and unnamability to the end of man and the beginning of writing. The book begins by situating Beckett in relation to a postmodern philosophical tradition, largely defined by Nietzsche and Heidegger, and a modern literary tradition, most notably represented by Proust and Joyce. The author argues against the tendency to treat the postmodern as the negation of Enlightenment thinking, a form of overcoming in which the modern is replaced by the anti-modern. In the place of this antithetical postmodernism, the author proposes a diffZrantial postmodernism. Especially important in this regard is Derrida s claim that there is never any question of choosing between modernity (what he calls Western metaphysics) and some term of opposition (the overcoming of metaphysics). I laughed when I started to read this cookbook. When reading the Harry Potter books, I thought to myself that food should be considered a character in the story and I am glad to see that I am not the only one who noticed. So many fun recipes themed around Harry Potter. we love mashed potatoes but the "fluffy mashed potato" recipe took it to another level. and right after that they have a gravy recipe to go along with it that takes something so simple and makes it superb. I would really like to plan a Harry Potter themed party and use all recipes from this book because so far the ones ive tried are delicious.

I recently purchased this harry potter inspired cook book. First off let me tell you I am a huge harry potter fan. Book and movie wise. I have had enough time now to try out a few recipes and i love them! I would deff recommend this to any hp fan or someone who is wanting to try new things out. I was super lucky and recieved this ecopy completely free for my unbiased and honest review.

My sister bought this for me for Christmas and can I just tell you how much I love this book. I have made several recipes from here and they have all turned out amazing. Plus being a total Harry Potter fan it brings you that sense of connection to the book. At the beginning of each recipe it gives you the book and chapter of when the characters where eating the recipe.

I'm not going to complain about a book that I got for free. I would be complaining if I had paid for it. It has some decent recipes in it but not the ones you might expect in a Harry Potter themed cookbook. I expected more Wizard food and less Muggle food. Oh well. For what it's worth, the book IS very well written and the recipes, though not what I expected, sound great.

Most of these recipes seem easy. Lots of traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas recipes like turkey, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. These are recipes from the original Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook not new recipes.

IT is a great cookbook. Each recipe starts by placing it into the story line of the book; where it appears and what Harry is going. If there is a description in the book like the knickerbocker glory the receipe gives direction on how to make it as it is described. It's fun for the children to bring some of the books magic home for their own enjoyment. There are many other recipes to have fun with. Since Harry is set in England these receives also bring a little bit of British cuisine to the table. Easy to follow some items hard to find but substitutions are easy.
